# Financial Aid for GED

Many students ask if financial aid is available to cover the cost of GED testing. First, it's important to clarify that **Onsego provides online GED prep classes** — we do **not** administer the official GED test. The GED test is offered exclusively by **GED Testing Service at GED.com**.

Now, let's get back to financial aid.

There are a few options available.

**#1. Some states offer free or subsidized GED® testing**

- New York
- Connecticut
- Maine
- West Virginia
- Arkansas
- Maryland
- Washington DC

**#2. Free testing to first-time test-takers**

- Kentucky
- Ohio
- Texas

You can check how it works in your state [here.](https://onsego.com/ged-test-by-state/)

**#3. Help From Healthcare Insurance Providers**

Some Healthcare Insurance Providers such as WellCare, Aetna Medicaid Health, and AmeriHealth Caritas include Free GED Testing for their members.

**#4. Dial 2-1-1**

Available in all 50 states, 2-1-1 provides free and confidential information and referral to appropriate agencies and community organizations.

Keep in mind that Onsego offers [GED prep online classes](https://onsego.com/online-ged-classes/); the actual GED® test is provided by the GED Testing Service through ged.com.

*Also, we have no contact with the organizations that offer financial aid; we just want to help you by providing publicly available information.*

*Disclaimer: Onsego’s mission is to support your GED preparation with our top-tier online course. Please note that the information shared here is for convenience. Ensure its accuracy by referring to official sources.*
