Financial Aid for GED

Many students ask if there is financial aid for GED testing. There are a few possibilities. First of all, some states subsidize GED® testing.

  • Arkansas is using the GED. The Arkansas price is $4 per subtest (so $16 for the entire exam)
  • Maryland uses the GED. In Maryland, the exam costs $11.25 per subtest ($45 for the entire exam)
  • Washington DC uses the GED exam. In DC, the fee is $3.75 per subtest ($15 for the entire battery)

Free Testing

Kentucky and Ohio offer free testing to first-time test-takers. Also, Texas residents are offered GED vouchers used as payment for the GED tests.

Healthcare Insurance Providers

Several Healthcare Insurance Providers such as WellCare, Aetna Medicaid Health, and AmeriHealth Caritas include Free GED Testing for their members.

Available in all 50 states, 2-1-1 provides free and confidential information and referral to appropriate agencies and community organizations.
