How to Submit Your Essay to the Onsego Essay Checker

You need to be an Onsego student to use the essay checker. Join us here.

Writing your essay in a separate document first is the easiest and safest way to complete your assignment.

Step 1: Write your essay

Write your essay in any text editor, such as:

  • Google Docs
  • Microsoft Word
  • Gmail (draft)
  • Notepad or any other writing app

This makes it easier to see your entire essay, edit your work, and avoid losing your progress. Many editors also save your work automatically.

Step 2: Check the word count

The GED® essay should be between 300 and 500 words.

If your essay is longer than the limit, part of it may be cut off or it may not be submitted correctly.

To check the word count:

  • Google Docs: Select Tools → Word count.
  • Microsoft Word: The word count appears at the bottom of the window. You can also select Review → Word Count.

Step 3: Copy your essay

When you’re finished, select all of your text and copy it.

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + A, then Ctrl + C.
  • Mac: Press Command + A, then Command + C.

Step 4: Paste it into the Onsego Essay Checker

Click here to open the Onsego Essay Checker.

Click inside the essay box and paste your essay.

  • Windows: Press Ctrl + V.
  • Mac: Press Command + V.

Then click Submit.

Step 5: Review your feedback

In about 2 minutes, you’ll be redirected to a results page.

You’ll see:

  • your original essay
  • a personalized evaluation
  • comments explaining your strengths and what you can improve

You’ll also receive the same feedback by email, so you can review it later.
