Rhode Island GED Online

The Rhode Island GED exam is available online as well. The exam is open only to Rhode Island residents, but to qualify for taking the GED test online, they must first reach “green” (likely to pass) results on the GED Ready practice test.

Because there is one GED Ready test for each of the four GED subtests, GED® applicants must buy four GED Ready® tests that are available at the website GED.com for $6.99 each.

How Do I Register For The GED Test?

The four GED sub-exams are administrated exclusively in a computer-based format. Registration for the exam and the GED Ready test must be done online at GED.com. GED candidates are required to create an account at the portal MyGED, where they can schedule and pay for their tests. Students only need to pay for the sections they take.

What’s On The GED Test?

There are four sub-exams (independent modules) on the GED exam. The sub-exams are pretty challenging, and the passing scores are set at such a level that the average high school graduate has only a 60% chance of passing the exam on the first try!

The four GED sub-exams assess knowledge levels in the academic subject areas of Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, and Science. You don’t need to take the entire GED battery in one take; the exam is modular, meaning you can take one (or more) of the modules at a time. Check out our post as well that addresses Rhode Island GED qualification requirements.

GED Scoring

The four GED sub-exams are scored on a scale that runs from 100 to 200. There are four scoring ranges:

100-144: non-passing score
145-164: high school equivalency passing score
165-174: college-ready passing score
175-200: college-ready + credit score

Prepare Well

All across Rhode Island, there are many facilities that offer GED instruction classes. As the four tests are pretty challenging, be sure to show up at one of Rhode Island’s official testing centers or for the online exam properly prepared!

Nowadays, you can also find some well-structured online GED prep courses, such as the Onsego online GED course, that will get you all set for the GED exam fast. If you prefer, you can also use books. Your local library and bookstore will have all sorts of GED study books at your disposal, but please check if they cover the current GED test.

GED Acceptance

The Rhode Island High School Equivalency program gives you another chance to earn a degree that’s accepted in the same way as a common high school diploma.

The GED credential will definitely result in better job options, and the diploma is also your great ticket to a college education. The GED credential is recognized just like a high school degree by virtually all schools of higher education and employers across North America.

It’s About YOUR Future

The GED exam plays an important role in the national and regional economy, and adults who have failed to complete their high school education can really benefit from the opportunity that the GED program offers.

Practically all governmental institutions and businesses recognize the GED diploma as a basis for their recruitment programs, and colleges and universities consider the GED diploma equivalent to a high school diploma.

Employees who pass the GED exam qualify sooner for promotion than those who don’t. Without the GED diploma, adults who did not complete high school have much more difficulty in securing a good job. Around every decade, the GED exam gets evaluated and adjusted to the latest university and industry standards.
